Rules and Entry to the Scottish Open for The Icelandic Horse
Equine Influenza Guidance for Competitors
❌ Please do not attend if your horse is showing signs of illness. ❌
In light of the current Equine Influenza situation across the country, we are taking additional steps to ensure you and your horse can continue to enjoy our in‑person event whilst helping to keep everyone safe. We therefore, insist that equine influenza vaccinations are up to date.
In order to assist the Scottish Open for The Icelandic Horse team, we are asking all competitors to submit your horse's vaccination records by sending clear photographs or scans of the horse details page (front page with horse details) and the up-to-date vaccination records via the entry form. This is essential to verify that your horse has been regularly vaccinated against Equine Influenza. Entries cannot be accepted without this evidence.
This will remove the need to check each horses passport details when you arrive on site, prior to unloading your horse. Please be aware Netherton Equestrian staff or the Scottish Open for The Icelandic Horse team may ask to see your horses passport to confirm details.
We ask all competitors and visitors to act responsibly and use good judgement regarding vaccinations and horse health, while continuing to follow advice from veterinary professionals and official authorities.
Please also:
- Keep a safe distance between horses: Avoid direct contact between horses.
- Monitor your horse’s health regularly: Take your horse’s temperature, especially in the lead‑up to events, to spot changes early.
- Avoid touching other people’s horses: If contact is unavoidable, use hand sanitiser before returning to your own horse.
We ask all competitors to act responsibly and use good judgement regarding vaccinations and horse health, while continuing to follow advice from veterinary professionals and official authorities.
Finally, if you have been in contact with equines that have recently become unwell, or if neighbouring yards, stables, or grazing facilities around your own are currently under restrictions due to illness, please do not attend the event.
Thank you for helping us keep the Scottish Open for The Icelandic Horse In‑Person Event safe for everyone
