Four Gait Classes

All four gait classes start with the letter V followed by a number. Some classes are ridden with other competitors on the track at the same time known as a group class (test), and others are ridden with a single competitor on the track known as a individual class (test)


V1

 

Riders compete individually and show:

• half a round of walk

• one round of slow to medium trot

• one round of slow tölt

• one round of fast tölt

• one round of slow to medium canter

 

V2 - 2025 Class

 

Riders compete in groups of up to three riders and show:

  • Slow tölt
  • Slow to medium speed trot
  • Medium walk
  • Slow to medium speed canter
  • Fast tölt

 

V3

 

Riders compete in groups of up to three riders and show:

• Slow to medium speed tölt

• Slow to medium speed trot

• Medium walk

• Slow to medium speed canter

• Medium to fast tölt

 


V4

 

Riders compete in groups of up to five riders and show:

  • Medium walk
  • Any speed tölt
  • Transition of walk/tölt and tölt to walk, separately ridden as instructed by the speaker
  • Change rein.
  • Slow to medium speed trot
  • Slow to medium speed canter; the start into canter and the stop after canter into walk is shown separately by each rider as instructed by the speaker

 

V5 - 2025 Class

 

Riders compete in groups of up to five riders and show:

  • Any speed tölt
  • Slow to medium trot
  • Medium walk
  • Slow to medium canter

 

V6 - 2025 Class

 

Riders compete in groups of up to five riders and show:

  • Any speed tölt
  • Slow to medium speed trot
  • Medium walk
  • Slow to medium speed canter, the start into canter and the stop after canter into walk is shown separately by each rider as instructed by the speaker
